Biography
Dr Thwin obtained his basic medical degree from the Institute of Medicine (1), Yangon, Myanmar and served as a medical officer in Yangon before he pursued further basic specialist training in London King’s College Hospital and Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals. He became the member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK in 2006. He worked as a trainee specialist registrar in the United Kingdom before he joined as a trainee registrar in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, NUH in 2007. Dr Thwin completed his advanced specialist training and was accredited by the Specialist Accreditation Board, Singapore Medical Council in 2010. He later obtained the specialty certificate in Gastroenterology from the Federation of Royal College of Physicians & British Society of Gastroenterology in 2011. He completed the Royal College of Physician’s approved advanced fellowship training in Transplant Hepatology at the Institute of Liver Studies, King’s College Hospital (London) in 2013. Dr Thwin is a core faculty member of ACGEM-I Gastroenterology for Senior Residency Programme in addition to his continuing effort in clinical teaching as an Assistant Professor in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore. He is an active member of various international liver associations and societies.
